vocal solos
The vocal music of Nathan Howe features intimate, modern arrangements for piano and voice. Some melodies are carefully borrowed from hymns and folk music. Some are original compositions. Some fall into the unnamed category that lies between art song and pop song. Most share messages of hope, faith, and desire to know God. Many of these works are available through gratemusic.com and LDSmusic.us.
hymns
In a world where many Christian churches are adopting contemporary pop/rock music for their worship, Nathan Howe continues in the long tradition of conservative hymnists. However, his techniques are far from dated; he incorporates modern harmonies and stylistic choices into the fabric of his neo-traditional hymn writing. Many of these hymns are available free of charge through LDSmusic.us.
